Emily Prentiss hands in her badge and gun

Got a strange sense of dejavu?

Well that isn’t really all that surprising because just last year Paget Brewster’s role as FBI agent Emily Prentiss would be reduced on Criminal Minds. And AJ Cook was fired from the show. But the outrage among fans changed a lot of things and both Paget and AJ eventually returned to the show full-time this season. I was ecstatic, because I love both women and I had been outraged by the way things were handled. I really was happy that they were back, but in the back of my mind I also felt like it was going to be temporary.

However Paget Brewster has made the very difficult choice to see what else is out there for her to do and we all know that she’s an awesome actress who can tackle so much more that just drama. She’s going to hand in her badge and gun at the end of the season. Like she says in her tweet it’s time for something new and who can blame her really after everything that happened. Besides that a gut feeling is not something you should ignore, it’s there for a reason. I know that from my experience.  If it doesn’t feel right it’s not right.

I will miss her on Criminal Minds – that’s for sure – I love that character but I think that we will see Paget again in the future in a different show, in a different role – hopefully comedy. And I will make sure that I will follow that show too because this is one talented lady!

Thanks Paget for all your hard work on one of the best shows on television, thank you for giving us this amazing character and for making her come to life on screen.

Catching up!

000h720y Catching up!

Wow! It’s been a while.

Really a while. I have been incredibly busy with a lot of different things. Of course November was National Novel Writing Month which is exactly what I did, I wrote a novel. Or better said I wrote the second part to last years Nanowrimo project. Yes, ‘Forces of Nature’ has grown to a story of over 100 000 words and it’s still not done. And then December came which is a busy month in general but crazy at work. Especially this year, in the past month due to different reasons we had to do the same work with two people less than usual and that was in the busiest month of the year. So craziness all around which also explains partly why I haven’t been around much, I have worked a lot of overtime in the past week (the one before Christmas).

But never fear I have worked on both this one ‘Forces of Nature’ as well as ‘Some Secrets are worth Sharing’. I made a print-out for my Nano project and I am reading through it to see what needs to happen. To make it an even better story, I really feel like I am working on a good story. It involves a case which is something that I have never done before. I want to make sure that the details are right. Continuity, it’s important and just reading through it I have already found some mayor mistakes in the first two chapters. So it’s gonna be a while before I am done with this story but I love working on it. In this story I do many firsts … the first case fic, the first time I write a story with a lot of original characters and my first straight sex scene … no worries though the story will ultimately be femmeslash.

‘Some Secrets are worth Sharing’ is going well, I posted two chapters in the past month and I am working on another chapter as we speak. The story is close to 100 000 words, I never thought it would be that long. I never could have imagined that it would be when I started writing it. However it won’t be much longer, I think that I am nearing a natural ending in this story. There is not much more that I have to tell and I feel like it has to end where it started. All in all the story will take place in a time span from Valentines day (or shortly after) till the next Valentines day and since I am now writing the Christmas/New Year chapters you know that I am almost there.

Day 13 – Catching up, getting back on schedule

em3 Day 13 Catching up, getting back on schedule

I wrote 5000 words today! 5000!!!

I kind of had too, because I needed to catch up, because I was getting really behind on schedule and I already know that it will be really difficult to write this following Thursday, Friday and Sunday. I didn’t manage to catch up all the way because I would have had to write 21667 words and I only managed to get 21464. So I could have added another 200 words if I’d wanted too but I stopped at the end of a scene and it felt like a good place to stop for the day.

I did a couple of 10 minute wordwars on the forum and I have to say that they are awesome to catch up if you’re slacking off. In ten minutes during a wordwar you can easily get 400 or 500 words written. One thing I noticed though is that I use ‘Write or Die’ the desktop edition for these wordwars and I disabled the backspace. Which means that you can’t correct the mistakes you make. And DAMN do I make a lot of mistakes if I don’t have the ability to use the backspace. It’s crazy … that’s what it is especially since I didn’t actually realize how often I backspace while I type usually. I type blindly and you really don’t notice these type of things.

Since I wrote so much I didn’t really have a particular part that stood out. I wrote one huge scene in which Garcia is the one send in to meet Emily and JJ while they’re undercover as Hannah and Liv. She’s the one send in to tell them that there is a change of plans and that the team figured out where their unsub picks up their victims. Garcia’s excited to finally be reunited with Emily and JJ because she’s missed them so much while they have been working their undercover op. Of course Garcia is not an agent and she’s not used to something like and the information that she has to give them is something that should be explained carefully but Garcia wouldn’t be Garcia if she didn’t just blurt it out.

I loved writing this scene, there are so many different emotions in this one scene and due to the situation and the information given it’s hard for JJ as well as Emily to stay in their characters as Hannah and Liv. I love it, I had so much fun writing it, I am just contemplating if I want to add some more to the scene in the form of Morgan telling Garcia what she should say through her earwig or not. Not quite sure about that, maybe I’ll add some more maybe I don’t…

Day 11 – No words, not one …

emhotch001 Day 11 No words, not one ...

Friday is gonna be hell when it comes to writing, I just don’t have the time between work and other stuff that needs to be done. So in short I haven’t written anything.

Oh well, tomorrow will be a new day … and I am still behind but I’ll be fine. Still not worried at all about the word-count. There is no need to freak out, there is enough time left to get it done.

Day 10 – Team interactions

emilymorgan003 Day 10 Team interactions

I wrote my Criminal Minds review today so I didn’t get a whole lot of writing done.

Finally I thought of a clue something that can bring my case to the next part of my story, the one clue that Garcia needed to get things moving. And that one clue got her on her way to meet JJ and Emily while they are undercover, and Garcia wouldn’t be Garcia if she wasn’t happy about it.

This is something I wrote today;

The red-headed technical analyst opened the door and sat down. She could barely contain her excitement. Derek quickly took his place behind the wheel and smiled at her, he could obviously see the excitement in her and he couldn’t contain his own laughter either. “Are you ready, sweet cheeks?”

“Oh so ready, you wouldn’t believe it. I could do it right now, I know everything I need to tell them and I swear I know this information better than Reid.”

“Really, you’re ready to challenge our own genius. I would never claim something like that, that boy knows everything he’s ever read or seen.” Derek said, secretly very impressed by the genius’ skills.

“Oh, I can take him.” Garcia replied with an air of confidence flowing from her body. Derek nodded his head in disbelieve and smiled, he drove them down the street in a comfortable silence towards the private airstrip where they would gather with the rest of their already thinned out team to make the five-hour flight to Los Angeles.

I love writing team interactions, this is one of my favorite shows and their interactions are important.

Day 9 – A clue

16 Day 9 A clue

Garcia found her clue, everything she’d been looking for starts to make sense… hopefully she can use that clue to push the case the team is working ahead and in the process keep JJ and Emily safe while they catch their unsub. And of course make sure that everyone can come home safely.

After all LA might be a wonderful place to be but we all know that Washington DC is where our ladies belong.

“Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!” The red-headed technical analyst screamed at her computer, she grabbed her tablet and copied a couple of files before she ran out of her lair. The sound of her heals resounded in the hallway along with a mantra of ‘Oh my God’s’. She ran through the glass doors that divided the BAU from the hallway and up the stairs past JJ and Rossi’s office. Both Reid and Derek stood up when they saw her fly past and watched her. Rossi even came out of his office with a confused look when he saw the blur of bright colours flash by his door. All three men shrugged at each other in confusion, within seconds of Garcia running by the door towards Hotch’s office the door to his office slammed shut leaving all three of them standing in the center of the BAU. Looking at each other before they looked at Hotch’s door, they weren’t sure what to expect would Garcia be thrown out as quickly as she ran inside or would they all be called inside and included in whatever it was that was going on. Because obviously something had grabbed the technical analyst attention and it was important enough for her to run from her lair down the hall into the BAU and into Hotch office without taking a second to stop and at least knock on the door.

And knowing that Hotch glare usually everyone was inclined to knock on Hotch door before entering the office. Through the half-opened blinds they could see that Hotch jumped up from his seat the second the door slammed shut. In the way he stood there it was obvious that he was ready to chew out the person who entered his office.

“I got it.” Was all that Garcia said before he sunk down into his chair and breathed out in relief. If Garcia said that she had it she didn’t need to elaborate it was obvious what she was talking about.

Day 8 – Week two

emjj06 Day 8 Week two

Week two is the hardest week – Hell Week – that’s what they call it.  Although that is what everyone says and for me that doesn’t seem to be true. I wrote 1700 words today and I had fun doing it. I love writing, I always have.

I am not on schedule, I know that but I am doing fine and I’m not worried at all. I’ll just keep on going and let myself be surprised by what I’ll because I don’t know exactly where this story is going. I am adding so many things that I’ve never thought about before and I love it. Since this is continuation of my last project I already had a base which I am now expanding, the thing that makes is hard though is that I don’t write from part A to B and then C … no I write whatever the hell I feel like writing. I can start at the beginning and write the first two chapters and then go to the middle part, followed by chapter twenty to go back to chapter four and so on. It makes it more difficult but also more fun.

I know what I want, were I want my story to go. I know the endpoint what I don’t know is how I’ll get there.  But I do know that at the end of this I will make to 50 000 words. I am sure!

Day 7 – Conversations

cl icon bacchanal 22 Day 7 Conversations

I am in the middle of a couple of very difficult conversations between Emily and her parents. For some reason I always end up writing Elizabeth as this bitch who’s never satisfied with her daughter’s choices even if they are the right choices for her. Though the relationship between Emily and her father is the opposite. We’ve never seen Emily’s father on the show so maybe I am way off but for some reason I always see her parents as Loralei Gilmore’s parents. Not that I saw that much of that show but Loralei’s mother always came across a lot like I would imagine Elizabeth Prentiss would act. From what little we’ve seen of her I think that there are a lot of similarities.

It’s challenging to write Emily’s mother but I love writing her too. She doubts literally everything that Emily does or wants.  And since my stories evolve around femmeslash Emily’s mother loves the idea of her daughter being gay and in love with a woman. It’s a great way to utilize her.

Day 5 & 6 – The first weekend!

 Day 5 & 6 The first weekend!

The weekend is about catching up, at least in this case it was. I didn’t quite manage to make it all the way but I did some research and since I refuse to let Nanowrimo to dictate my life I went out and did some other stuff as well.

I went to a book-fair and I purchased some books for a very cheap price. This is awesome! I should really do this more often I bought four books by Jean M. Auel, Tess Gerritsen, Mo Hayder and Dean Koontz all of that for under 10 Euros. I love books, but I guess that’s kind of obvious because otherwise I probably wouldn’t be so into writing … lol I probably should quit telling random facts especially if they are this obvious.

Oh! By the way on a completely different and again a random note ‘Wicked’ premiered this weekend in the Netherlands!!! Only two more weeks until I’m going to see it. I can’t wait I am so looking forward to this show.

Day 4 – No words

cabed Day 4 No words

Friday will be the day that it will be nearly impossible for me to write.

With getting up early for work and getting home around six only to leave again at seven. And eat, shower, change my clothes in between there is not much time left in the day to write and that will be every Friday.  And also Grey’s Anatomy needs to be reviewed for the TwoCents on Friday.

But it’s fine, I will make up for it this weekend! Mark my words!!!
