Summary: It’s a short quick story I wrote in a matter of minutes, while posting this I decided to add some details.
Jane Rizzoli had always thought that Maura Isles was a little … different, she had always tried to treat the other woman with respect and defended her if need but right at this moment she was at a complete loss for words. For the past couple of minutes Maura Isles had been spewing facts, one after another and Jane lost track of the conversation. Nothing sounded even remotely familiar anymore and the strangest thing was that the other woman sitting besides Maura was nodding her head in agreement. Every now and than she added something which caused a totally new waterfall of words to tumble from Maura’s lips.
She literally couldn’t understand a word her friend was saying; “What?”
Maura froze mid-sentence, turning her head towards the detective cocking it sideways while she watched her intensely. But before she could say anything the broad shouldered FBI Agent started to laugh, a loud heartwarming laugh; “Oh, that’s normal. That’s just squint talk.”
Jane focused her attention on the agent next to her; “What? I was talking about the googlemouthing. Wait what did you call it?”
Booth shrugged, he was used to it by now and he had to admit hearing these two woman talking to each other was something else, for all he cared they could have been speaking Russian and he would have understood just as much. He loved Bones, no doubt about it but sometimes he wished that she was a little bit more like Cam or Angela. They would get his jokes, sports or movie references while Tempe with all her brainy facts would need an explanation, nevertheless he loved her. He always had to be honest; “Squint talk, she does it all the time. I have to ask her time and time again to speak English.”
Jane: “I hear you, I have to stop her from going all googlemouth on me all the time too. Add to that the fact that she refuses to call a reddish-brown stain blood and you know what I have to deal with on a daily bases. She always needs to have everything confirmed before making a statement. Even if the victim has a slit throat she still wants to make sure that the reddish-brown stains all over the room are blood.” She sighs and rolls her eyes but a smile is playing on her lips.
Booth grunts in agreement; “Same here. Glad I finally found someone who understands how hard it can be to work with someone like our uber-squints. Want another beer?” He asking pointing to the empty bottle in Jane’s hand.
“Yes, please. And a bowl of peanuts, I don’t care how unsanitary they are.”
“Oh, so your squint gave you that lecture as well.”
“Shut up! You have no idea followed by how dirty beer bottles are but still I prefer it straight out of the bottle.”
“Same here.” Booth said while he tapped his bottle against Jane’s in triumph.
