At the beginning of Criminal Minds, I shamefully admit, I didn’t watch it. Didn’t like it … I like the whole profiler aspect of it but I didn’t like the characters. I remember watching a couple of episodes but it just didn’t work for me. So I kind of lost track of it then somehow I found myself watching it again around the time that Elle was replaced by Emily and I found myself getting sucked into the show. Then when Gideon left and Rossi showed up I was sold. I loved it. So when I had the chance I watched the re-runs on tv but honestly the first and second season still don’t do it for me.

So for me the real cast of Criminal Minds includes Emily Prentiss and Dave Rossi.

The fandom has gone through a lot this past season (2010-2011), I am sure that if you are a fan of the show you know what I mean. AJ Cook and Paget Brewster both lost their jobs, an uproar of fans on the internet and mostly on twitter spoke up and fought to get both actresses reinstated. Because of everything that happened in such a cruel manner while at first it didn’t seem to work I can tell you that both AJ as well as Paget will be back next season and I couldn’t have been happier because that stunt ruined my whole OTP (One True Pairing)!

So who do I ship

Well like I said firing AJ and Paget ruined my OTP, that statement should tell you that I ship Emily and JJ.

On one hand we have this dark haired mysterious woman, Emily Prentiss, we know hardly anything about her life. We know that she lived in several countries in Europe and the Middle East because of her mother’s postings as a Ambassador. We know that she is able to speak several languages and we know that she’s considerably rich, she probably has a trust fund. We’ve seen her mother make an appearance on the show but literally know nothing about her father.  When she first arrives at the BAU no one knew that she would be joining the team. Hotch is not at all pleased probably more because someone didn’t ask his opinion before assigning her to his team and he once did a security assignment for Emily’s mother. Nevertheless Emily Prentiss is added to the team. She’s been there for a good three years and still we know hardly anything about her. She’s a mystery, with a dark past in undercover assignments – deep cover assignments. Something no one on the team ever knew anything about until a subject from the past comes back to haunt her.

I don’t exactly know but from the first second I saw her on screen she gave me the ‘gay’ vibe. I am not claiming that Emily Prentiss is a lesbian, I am not stating anything of the kind I am merely saying that neither did she ever state to be heterosexual. Since there are not a whole lot of gay role-models on television we have to search for it – often in the smallest details – to find it. I always hoped that Emily would one day drop out of the closet, but that is probably just gonna be my wishful thinking. But anyway on one hand Emily is totally feminine while on the other hand she totally rocks the half strapped combat boats, cargo pants with the off-center belt-buckle, the masculine watch on the inside of her wrist and the FBI standard issue bulletproof vest.

JJ however is a little harder to explain, I guess I just like the dynamic between the two women. I know that JJ’s with Will and that she has Henry, but I don’t know, their storyline was rushed because AJ Cook was pregnant, due to the writers’ strike when filming finally started they had to rush the storyline since they where going to use her pregnancy on the show. So Will who JJ kind of flirted with earlier was broad back as a long distance lover and she became pregnant with his child which rush their relationship and forced him to move in with her. I never liked him, something seems off and the fact that JJ refuses to marry him even though he has asked her several times only strengthens that feeling for me. We don’t know much about JJ’s past either just that her parents are still together, she used to have a sister who was died by suicide. I like JJ with Emily, I think that they could have a very intense, loving relationship. I would love for that to happen and that is why I ship them, why I like to write fanfiction about them.

A little explanation

Since I clearly ship Jemily I have alway steered away from making Garcia a lesbian in my stories as well. I know that she, well Kirsten Vangsness, really is gay but making her character gay as well would make it one of those stories were all of the sudden everyone turns gay. And I really want to avoid that! At the same time I feel a little bad about it, so I usually give Garcia a big role in my stories as the one who pushed them together or as a confidant to one or both of the other women. Her being their best friends makes it easy to write it that way of course.
