Day 2 – So happy

40 Day 2 So happy

I am so happy right now, it feels so good to continue this story. It has been something that I have thought about for a long time. Before I decided to make this a Criminal Minds fanfic I had intended to make this a CSI fic, so believe me a long time because I haven’t been writing CSI for years.

Criminal Minds needs more girls nights out, and that is what I wrote today:

“Obviously something is going on.” JJ replied with a smile; “I just want you to know that we are here if you want to talk about it, whatever it is.”

Emily nodded and smiled at the blond, but she could never tell her what she had thought about. How do you tell your best friend that you think that she looks absolutely stunning and that you ravished her a thousand times in your mind. You don’t, unless you are absolutely sure that the feelings are mutual and even then you don’t say it out loud.

“I am fine. However I am not fine with this, my glass is empty.” The brunette spoke loudly in an upbeat tone of voice while a smile played on her lips.

“Well there is truly something to say for that, let me get us some refills and make sure that you don’t get lost in your thoughts again. We need you, it’s a girl’s night out and we can only have so many nights as it is. So you better make sure that you are here for the whole ride.”

Day 1 – The start

Day 1 – Nanowrimo started, finally!

I have been looking forward to this day for so long and now it’s here all in all it went really fast this past month.

As I’ve said before I am going to work on ‘Forces of Nature’, which was the story that I wrote last year as well but I didn’t finish it. This past month I have been working on the plot, the development of the story and I am sure that I can come up with another 50 000 words for this story. Today’s target is in, the first 1720 words have been written. The chapter I worked on was mostly Garcia centered and that is a nice way to start.

My favorite sentence from todays chapter:

“I’ll be right there, Garcia out.” She quickly replied while she gathered everything she might need and quickly left her lair. Her heels resounded loudly on the walls as she strode down the corridor towards the BAU, she pushed the glass doors open and noticed that everyone had already gathered in the round-table room. Saying that always reminded her of the tale of king Arthur and the knights of the round-table. In a way their team were kind of like knight’s in FBI issued kevlar armor, who wielded their guns and badges to make the world a better place.

Forces of Nature – Nanowrimo 2011

Nanowrimo 2011

feat-nano

In a week November starts and that means that Nanowrimo is just around the corner.

For those who have no idea what Nanowrimo is I would like to direct you to the FAQ pages, there is a Nanowrimo faq in which I explain in short what it is.

Anyway it is a writing contest in which you challenge yourself to write a novel in a month. It’s not about quality but more about quantity. I personally love writing, it clears my mind. If I don’t write I won’t be able to stop my mind. And therefore I have a hard time focusing on other things. I have written for a long time, as long as I can remember. I always used to write short stories, well something like that. But I really got into it when I started writing fanfiction.

The first year, 2009 I wrote 50 000 words. A Criminal Minds/NCIS crossover ‘Of past rejection and future loyalty’. It is a project that I am still working on, the subject is pretty touchy. I am not sure if it will ever see the light of day, it about a relationship between an at the time 16 year old Ziva David and a grown-up Emily Prentiss. They meet again fifteen years later when their paths cross during a case which NCIS and the BAU both work. Feelings were hurt and a lot of it has never been talked about. The subject of the story could rub people the wrong way, so I am not sure. But I am happy with what I wrote so far and I do plan to finish it.

In 2010 I started a Criminal Minds fic which I called ‘Forces of Nature’ . I based my story on two challenges I received years before, at the time I wanted to make it a CSI story but that never really worked out;

Challenge:

45) ‘Let’s Pretend’: to successfully complete an undercover operation/away mission, the partners must pose as (or are assumed to be a) couple.

Random phrase:

73) Include this line: “With my luck, when my ship finally comes in, I’ll be at the airport.”

I wrote 50 000 words but I knew that the story was not nearly done. I have gone over everything I wrote this past year and I have searched for things I could add, rewrites and edits of scenes. Because I have come up with more than enough ideas – to add another 50 000 words – I have decided that I am going to rebel this year.

For 2011 I am going to try to finish ‘Forces of Nature’. I want to add those other 50 000 words and finish the story. Well okay finish would be a big word there still needs to be some editing and revisions done but still I want to get it all done and start posting this story soon. I really like it and I am happy with what I started last year and I am sure that I can make it even better.

Nanowrimo is a race against the lock, fighting the deadline while it tries to sneak up on you. With 1667 words a day you can reach 50 000 in 30 days. And it is a huge victory if you reach it! Believe me I know because I did it twice and I’m about to do it a third time. My hands are itching I want to start writing … right now.

Some secrets are worth sharing

In these past two weeks I have written two (for my doing) incredibly long chapters for ‘Some secrets are worth sharing’  in which a lot happened in regards to moving the story along. I know that this story has gotten really long, which was unforseen when I started it. But I have been enjoying myself writing it. Today I received a review in which someone asked me when Emily and JJ are going to share their secret with the team. Well I know that it is taking a long time – honestly too long even for my liking – but in the first chapter which was dated on Valentines day I stated that they had been together for almost a year. In the second chapter I went back to when they first started to express their feelings for each other.

So I give you a little time-line, chapter 34 was ‘Thanksgiving’, I have just send chapter 36 and 37 to my proofreader which are the pre-Christmas chapters (which is a weird thing to write in August/September) which makes chapter 38 the Christmas chapter. A this point I think that there might be one or two Christmas chapters. Definitely one chapter for a work-related New Years eve party. And when we had New Year we are getting really close to Valentines day and believe me it won’t be long until the team finds out after that …

Nanowrimo’11/Forces of Nature

So it’s September and naturally things begin to itch again, that Nanowrimo itch. You want to start, you are so ready to start. It’s fun to see that people are returning to the forums even though they will be cleaned on October first. I’ve been thinking about what I should do but I am not really interested in writing a new story. However I am thinking about writing an extension on last years story ‘Forces of Nature’. I am now going through my story of last year to see if I have enough to add to that story to make it through 50 000 words. Otherwise I won’t make it and that would really suck.

‘Forces of Nature’ is a fanfic, Criminal Minds. It’s an Emily/JJ story but I am adding a lot of original characters and Emily and JJ will be working undercover. So they won’t be themselves and they won’t be working with the team the way they usually would. I guess that this story is the closest I have ever come to writing an original story.
