Fan support and supporting fans

fan-support-and-supporting-fans

Most of this blog has been Criminal Minds related and that has been a mere coincidence. Lately all of my writing has been involving JJ and Emily, I love those women. But if you know me you know all the crap that has been going on recently in the fandom due to ‘creative decisions’ you know that it has not been an easy time for Criminal Minds fans since the powers that be want to show once again that they have the power.

I have said it before and I will say it again, come September I will be watching Criminal Minds. I will miss JJ and later on Emily terribly but there are 5 other amazing actors who need the fanbase support as well. And I will stick with them. Painful as it might be.

I think that it is really admirable to see how the cast are taking this news. On one hand it is obvious that they don’t agree with what happened, and more specifically how it happened either. And it is great to see the interaction between them and us, the fans. There have been some funny ideas sprouting from this whole mess. The whole restaurant thing comes from Paget Brewster who claimed that she could always go back to waitressing which in return got reply from AJ that she at least had something to go back too.

Fans mentioned that it wouldn’t matter if they could or couldn’t waitress because they would have 42.309 fans who would come in for a drink or too … and even become regulars. That is when someone joked about a ‘Coyote Ugly‘ bar!!! Which is one of my favorite movies! :P Piper Perabo, Maria Bello … *gutter mind* anyway wouldn’t we love to that?

AJ Cook – Ideas for JJ’s exit…who’s got ‘em??? More funny, the better! FYI: You guys are so amazing. Words can’t describe how kickass you all are!

Joe Mategna – Maybe @pagetpaget and @ajcookofficial should have their own show!!!!!

Joe Mategna – I can see the promo now..”They were to good for the FBI, now their gonna fight crime their own way. It’s “Ladies Night Out!”

Kirsten Vangsness – @JoeMantegna I want to guest star on that show

Joe Mantegna – Maybe they should do something lighter? Like a sitcom.

Joe Mantegna – How about “Salt and Pepper” two ex-FBI agents turned chefs in a lower Manhattan restaurant. Or are the ex FBI?????

AJ Cook- Loving all of your ideas!! Thanks for the laugh. I’m doing really well. Great things are happening!!! Have a wonderful long weekend. xoxo

AJ Cook – @JoeMantegna Love it! Restaurant needs to be called “Creative Reasons”.Love ya babe! See you soon.

But while I am writing this I have to say that even though this blog seems to only be about Criminal Minds that is a mere coincidence. I have other pairings which I love but at the moment I have just not been writing about those pairings. But I am planning on actually expanding the pairings and venturing into some new fandoms.

CBS fires AJ Cook! And cuts down Paget Brewsters hours! Have they lost their mind?

CBS fires AJ Cook! And cuts down Paget Brewsters hours! Have they lost their mind?

Apparently the answer to that question is supposed to be a full mouthed ‘YES!’ because otherwise you wouldn’t make a choice like that. CBS can afford to create a spin off show for Criminal Minds but has to fire AJ Cook because of financial issues and they are still in negotiations with Paget Brewster. If they keep her, her hours will be cut down and she will become a recurring guest star … WHO THE FUCK MAKES THAT DECISION?

Criminal Minds is one of the most popular shows on television, one of the best. They have a fantastic cast and crew and the chemistry on screen as well as off screen is amazing. They have a huge fanbase and a big following on their twitter accounts.

Please don’t ruin one of the best shows on television!

A month after Nano

It has been almost a month since NanoWriMo ended and since that month I haven’t been writing much but there is a reason for that. I well first off all had to work on my Secret Santa fic for NFA because I had received my assignment in September or October but still hadn’t done anything about it first because of my challenge fic ‘The Butterfly Effect and secondly because of my nano project.

Well the first fic ended half October and then it was on to the preparations for NaNo. Which buy the way I suck at.  I was so eager to start writing and normally I just do that but now I had to wait till a set time which was rather difficult. And then I had to write … Write so much each day that from week one I was consistently 10 000 words behind. Truth be told my first week of NaNo sucked because I had too much real life things which where asking, begging for my attention. I wanted to write so badly but I just really lacked the time to do so. And when IO finally had time to write I was so tired that I was blocked and wasn’t able to write as much as I wanted to write. The seconds week was better but I was still not hitting the target., No for me the switch came in the week when apparently most people struggle. Week 2 was a good week that was the week when I slowly started to catch up but week four and especially the last weekend was when I got the most writing in. It was finny because I was checking my stats and on one website it said a couple of days before the end that I would end around 20 days later at the speed I was going.  So I changed the pace and I made it. Better then I could have expected, truth be told.  However I was only in my second week when I told my mother about my progress on NaNo and I told her that that no matter if I made it or not in my mind I was already a winner because of all the things which where thrown my way during the first two weeks of NaNo.

I have not been writing in the past month, well okay I did write about 700 words, and of course my SeSa fic which is about 4000 words but that is it.

I ordered a printout from my novels first draft and from the moment I received it I have been reading through it and correcting, editing and adjusting things in it. It is a little past 50 000 words but I know that the story will be much longer once it ends. A lot longer, maybe even more then double what it is right now.

I am adding changes to it and I have a post it (different colours) system for changes that I want to make like adding scenes or moving scenes, character development things like that.

My first draft the one I am using right now is a total mess but having it in front of me and being able to read through it while making adjustments does help a lot. It made me see that there is a lot to change but it also made me see that there is a lot of good stuff in it. So far I have only completely strike through two small scenes both not more then 5 to 10 sentences. So that is a pretty good outcome. But there is a lot that I still want to add. I think that once this story is done I might even surpass the 100 000 words easily.

So now they give me the case I needed!

So I was watching Criminal Minds this week and writing a lot too.

I have already rewritten two scenes because of the mayor change on the Criminal Minds team. And since my story starts with a joined case both the Criminal Minds team and the NCIS team are working a case from their own angle. Criminal Minds matches their case to an NCIS case and unknown to NCIS at that point came to the same conclusion and they stumble upon one of the suspects and the latest victim at the same time.

Truth be told I suck at writing case files, half way through the story it always gets pushed back and the cases never really get solved. Because the drama and love angle always takes first place in my stories. This time however I have been trying to write a case file and I am still not good at it so I was very annoyed when I just saw this weeks episode in which a army family gets killed.

If that episode had been aired a couple of weeks earlier I could have used that as an angle to start the story. Yes, writing fanfiction can be frustrating at times!!! Gah!

Oh well who knows, I might be able to use some of it to my benefit at least I now know that apparently the BAU works cases involving the army or marines too which is good. I can use that!

10 000 word shoutout!!!

I probably shouldn’t be this happy since I should have had 10 000 words at least a week ago. But I am, I have been so busy and even though I don’t want to say it out loud yet but with half of the month gone changes of me finishing in time are nihil…  zero… or well very small.

But I am still doing it and even with my freelance project of a complete logo and corporate design for papers, cards and what not. And of course the three websites for my job and my regular job to top it off. I am still here and I am still doing it.

And that is actually what kept me back last year and the year before.  I thought that I would be too busy. I am. I can’t put it any other way but the story is developing and I am getting there maybe not in the next two weeks but it will reach 50 000 words some day.

Oh yeah did I tell you about the fact that I had to rewrite two complete scenes because of significant changes in Criminal Minds. I had set a timeline in which I choose a particular moment in NCIS and in Criminal Minds as the same moment in time. So that I had a base from where I could work out my story. And then they decide to let Hotch step down and Morgan take his place a too big of a change to let it go.Because my storyline starts at the beginning of the new year.

When things don’t go as planned

when-things-dont-go-as-planned

Doing this made me realize a couple of things, you never know how crazy things will get even if you intent to do the best you can some real life things can mess you ideas up pretty badly. I have never had anyone interested in me designing a logo for a company until the third day of this month.

So I am not designing a logo and making sure that they will have designs for their corporate mail and business card as well. Next to that I spend two complete weekend helping my sister with her moving to a different city. And I am working on three different websites for my work, after work hours …. and write a novel.

Seriously it is crazy!

So I am at the moment way behind on schedule but I am having fun while I am writing and I think that having fun matters even more.

So as I have said before I am writing fanfiction, in this case a cross over between my two favorite shows of the moment NCIS and Criminal Minds. It will be a very dramatic story between two former lovers and yes it is going to be femmeslash.

So when I am writing and since I am writing fanfiction you can often find me listening to music or I have an episode of the show I am writing about playing in the background. It helps me to connect to the characters better. Today I had Criminal Minds on and there was this perfect quote given at the end of the show by Emily Prentiss, one of my main characters.

Writer Cyril Connolly said, “Better to write for yourself and have no public then to write for the public and have no self. “

I like that quote, I will have to remind myself of that sometimes when I am worried about what other people think of my stories.

The second thing I realized is that I spend way too much time editing. I have to write words if I want to make it through this month and make it a success but I am reading, rereading and editing way too much to really make any numbers on a daily bases. Especially since I had my fair share of days where I was unable to write anything due to other obligations.

The start of a novel…

the-start-of-a-novel

Yes, I have started! The first full day has passed and I have failed to reach my word count miserably. But I have a good reason, my sister is moving and since this was a Sunday I had to do my part and help out in the mayor paint job which was basically painting the whole apartment.

My weekend was literally crazy, on Saturday I went to Utrecht to the NaNoWriMo kick off party! Which was great, I loved it. It is very inspiring to talk to other people about writing. It is really interesting to hear what other people like to do while writing, how they work. If they listen to music or enjoy the silence. If they research while writing or do all their research ahead of time.

I really enjoyed listening to everyone hearing their ideas and especially all of the differences between everyone. I have heard that there where about 60 people at the gathering. I really liked meeting everyone and it really put me into the right mood to write. Only problem at this moment is that my life is so filled with obligations that I can hardly find the time to do anything about my writing. But this year I am going to try and make it.

Some useful information

nano_09_blk_participant_120x240-png

As you can see I have added some widgets on the right side, all of them are important to the writing process. Of course there is the Nanowrimo widget which will count my word count, writing hours and days remaining.

I have added the last.fm widget because in my case music and writing go together. I can’t write without music playing. Better yet I always have either my music on or the television on. I can’t stand silence and work flows better when there is music.

I have also added links to the sidebar, they are divided in three groups. One is ‘my websites’ which is pretty obvious, then there is ‘important links’ which will give you some links to programs I use or websites I like to use. And last but not least is a category which holds links to websites online where I got my information for my story like ‘TimeGlider’ which is where you can find the story line for my story in a time line.

Of course there is also a calendar and a tag cloud.

Nanowrimo’09

Yes, I have decided to try and participate in the Nanowrimo this year.  I must be absolutely crazy, I know that much. November is probably going to be a crazy month at work and besides that my sister is also moving. But I have been looking around for two years on the website wanting to do it but I chickened out. Well not this year.

So here I am putting up a new blog where I will post my progress and information I am using.
